[OK na Food Trip] Mad Mark's Creamery and Good Eats

Posted by Obi Macapuno on 6/05/2014
Unang Hirit:
Saw a random article in the interwebs about the best steak places below 500 bucks and this place came up among other restaurants that we either already tried or are too far to visit. Eto kasi meron sa Glorietta 5 kaya pinuntahan agad namin for dinner nung time din na yun.

To this date, madaming beses na kaming kumain doon and we don't hesitate to refer it to friends. Sobrang sulit.

swabe eats!

Mga Sinampolan:

  • Chicken Meltdown
  • Signature Steak with Side Dishes
  • Grilled Chicken Cob Salad
  • Half Baked Madagascar
  • IBC 1975 Rootbeer Float
  • Homebrewed Iced Tea

They call their sandwiches "Man Sandwiches". No idea why but it will sure tickle the attention of anti-sexist groups. That aside (as if we care), their man sandwiches come in reeeally big servings. If ordered "full", tingin namin it's about 8-10 inches and is more plump than Subway's, kasama na ang palaman at rekado. We settled for "half" which should be just right (if we did not eat it with their signature steak).

half-huge sandwich

Chicken meltdown ang una naming sinampolan among the man sandwiches. Gusto namin yung pagka toast ng tinapay. Crunchy. Shredded cheese should do.

bootstrap steak

Signature steak yung pamatay nila. Sa murang halaga, we initially set our expectations low. We were proved wrong. The meat is tender, siksik, at sobrang konti lang ng litid (if not totally absent). It's served in 150, 200, and 300 grams. We think, 200 grams should work well for sharing couples and 100 grams for solo dining. All of which are served with two side dishes kaya sulit nang ito lang ang order.

Johnny Black steak

So that says a lot. Kaso sana hindi sa foil nakalagay when served. Kumakapit sa foil eh, madaming nasasayang.)
  • Garden Grains (Sinangag na kanin na may anik anik. Ito ang staple kanin namin dito. Pero may plain rice din sila.)
  • Tenn-slaw (Ito yung coleslaw. Nothing outstanding but not bad either.)

Siguro dahil sobrang mild.)
  • Johnnie Double Black (A tangy sweet sauce with Black Label Scotch Whiskey. Paborito ko ito. Pero hindi digs ni Kath yung tamis. Sobra daw.)

Yung grilled chicken cob salad ay nasa caesar dressing. Good for sharing ang isang order. LOL.

yum!

Sa ice cream, we tried the half baked Madagascar, which is vanilla ice cream with soft cookie dough. Sobrang sarap! The vanilla flavor itself tastes special.

1975 root beer

For the root beer float, we got to choose what ice cream we want over our glass of IBC root beer. The bottle looks antiquated. Nakaka-aliw. Pero mahal ito at around P180.

The iced tea is just how Kath wants it to be (which I don't want), yung may konting asim na parang lemonade.

homebrew

Damage sa Wallet:
Sulit ang ibabayad dahil masarap ang pagkain! It's a place we do not hesitate to spend.

Steak goes for as low as P220+ (150g) to P390+ (300g). With two generous servings of side dishes of your choice plus a good mix of delectable steak sauces to choose from, sobrang justifiable na yung presyo. Now we agree to that random net article that Mad Mark's is among the best for steaks under P500.

Other food items go from P180 to P220, most of it is sulit for the amount of servings.

Ice cream is on the expensive side (about P70 per scoop) pero masarap naman kasi talaga. Peksman.

happy camper

Mga Masasabi:
We always asked for the steak to be cooked well-done but it always ends up to be medium to medium-well. Nothing biggie for us really dahil sobrang sarap at sulit pa din ng steak dito regardless ng luto.

Service is good. They are very attentive and keen on getting you seated on a busy day. The Glorietta branch badly needs to relocate or opt for a bigger space.

a friend's steak (that's the bacon and potato side dish with rice)

Pahabol:

7 out of 7
