O + K = Baby Meow

Posted by Obi Macapuno on 3/12/2015

Reese Kelsey

March 8, a day after my [Obi's] birthday, our little bundle of cuteness (who we fondly call Baby Meow) is born. We are, at last, a family!

REESE KELSEY ang binigay namin na pangalan sa kanya. No fancy story behind it.

Reese has nothing to do with the actress (we're not a fan, sorry) or with the peanut butter choco cup (I don't eat peanuts). We just wanted an "R" name for a girl or a "K" name for a boy at isa ang Reese sa mga nagustuhan namin among our list when we learned that Baby Meow is going to be a girl. Icing on the cake, the name sounds like a feminine version of Roose, isa sa mga paborito kong characters sa "Game of Thrones" (GOT).

Kelsey was thought up by her twin cousins, Lei and Liz. Originally, hindi kailangang "K" ang second name ni Baby Meow para hindi masyadong "KathNiel" ang dating ng pagbubuo namin ng pangalan. However, Kelsey sounds nice with Reese at nagustuhan namin agad ito when kambal suggested it over Skype. Kelsey also sounds like Khaleesi, another awesome character in GOT. Geek parent is geek.

Also, we looked it up and Reese means "passionate" while Kelsey means "brave". Sounds like how we want our baby to be when she grew up.

We heard that scientifically, yung features ng bata na dadalhin niya hanggang paglaki ay nag-uumpisa lamang mabuo sa kanyang 6th month. Fact or not, sa ngayon, parang sa akin niya nakuha ang ilong, pisngi at mata while yung nguso, buhok, at kilay ay kay Kath.

Sa akin nakuha yung tangkad as she is already about one and a half feet long at birth. Yung bigat naman (7.1 pounds at birth) ay parang nakuha kay Kath? LOL. In short, she's quite a big girl. Better to clobber future suitors.

Umpisa na ng puyatan. Let's get it on!
