[OK na Food Trip] Main Street

Posted by Obi Macapuno on 7/15/2014
Canadian Comfort Food

Intro:
Nasa bandang Tuscany ito, among a row of very interesting foodie places. They serve Canadian comfort food, ayon sa menu nila.

When we got there, madaming kumakain kahit medyo nasa kalagitnaan ng kawalan ang Tuscany. And the place in particular have more customers than the other restaurants in the strip. Dinadayo. It must be good!

On the Table:

  • Poutine
  • Grilled Kitayama Steak
  • Buttermilk Fried Chicken

poutine for president!

Poutine! We never heard about it until that day. But apparently, sikat pala siya sa Canada (especially in Quebec). And it tastes reeeally good in Main Street! It's fries with gravy and cheese. Crunchy yung texture ng fries which is just right for us (we hate it soggy). Cheese is melted over it. Then, it's slathered with gravy (na beefy ang lasa). Parang fries na pwede i-ulam sa kanin! LOL. Serving is mucho considering its price. I think it can serve up to three people. But frankly I can chow down on it by myself. This is a must in Main Street! Sulit.

steak and egg

Grilled Kitayama Steak is simply steak and egg. Steak is taken from the flank part, sliced thinly and cooked medium well. It's topped with egg cooked sunny side up and served with rice na mint-y and herb-y ang lasa. Sabi sa menu it's rosemary rub. No idea what is it but I loved it on my rice. Bumango yung amoy. Yung kanin madami.

fried chicken

Yung Buttermilk Fried Chicken ang isa daw sa mga specialty nila pero frankly we can't identify the buttermilk taste. Don't get us wrong, it's juicy and fried brown and crispy, but napaka-subtle ng lasa ng flavor. It's served in three okay-sized pieces and the price is really reasonable. This took some time to be served. Siguro sa dami ng umo-order.

Kaching!:

grub

Poutine is P155. Sobrang mura for something that delicious and can serve up to three!

Steak goes for P360 and it's one of the best steak I tasted under P500.

Three piece fried chicken goes for 260.

Mostly, entrees are around P240 to P380.

There's a 10% service charge.

asan nang pagkain ko?

Thoughts:
Food is served hot.

Place is a bit cramped but we like its interiors. Urban yung vibe ng mga disenyo. Kailangan may special mention yung mga magagandang black and white photos na nasa hagdan going to their mezzanine. Nice shots. Gusto din namin yung isang makulit na signage na nasa main dining area about finishing your alcohol (see photo below).

yes, please

Madilim yung place sa gabi but it works for us. It gives a sense of privacy kahit dikit dikit yung lamesa sa loob. Actually, maingay yung grupo na nakatabi namin that night (from HP... bah!).

Their staff are attentive to the customers' needs. There's a dedicated waiter on the mezzanine area so maganda ang pag-asikaso sa mga customers na nandun (we dined at the mezzanine level).

They serve beer!

Parting Shots:
We definitely have to come back if just for the poutine!

But NO, we have to come back for the poutine AND try the other delectable dishes! Go, google-fu their wagyu burger! GO!

We heard their homemade ice cream also rocks!
