[OK na Food Trip] Kichitora of Tokyo

Posted by Obi Macapuno on 5/19/2014
Ang Pasakalye:
In our hunt (which is really more of a craving) for more ramen variants around Makati, we decided to try this one out in Glorietta 5 as recommended by an officemate.

Ang Kinain:

  • Paitan Ramen Zenbu no Se
  • Gyoza
  • House Tea

Yung Paitan Ramen Zenbu no Se ang best seller nila kaya yun ang niyari namin. May mas normal version nito, yung Paitan Ramen lang but the "Zenbu no Se" version has more meat toppings (chicken or pork chasu) mixed with seaweeds, soft-boiled egg, at iba pang garnish.

"Paitan" means "milky" which is evident on their white sauce na gawa sa matagal na pinakulaang chicken bones at collagen. As in!

The noodle is cooked al dente pero dapat wag magpa tumpik tumpik sa pagkain dahil habang tumatagal, lumalambot yung noodles sa init ng sabaw.

The gyoza is not bad but there's nothing noteworthy either. Sakto lang lahat, from the size of each dimsum up to how it was cooked. Masarap yung sawsawan nilang toyo.

ala carte

Ang Gastos:
Averagely priced yung ramen nila (which should be around P350), comparing it with most of the well-known ramen places ngayon (plus 10% service charge).

Walang kinalaman sa dining experience namin but it's nice to know. Trip kasi makapunta ni Kat doon someday.

Anyway, hindi ko nagustuhan na may kinakausap na ibang waiter yung staff na kumukuha ng order namin while we are at it. It's just rude. Hindi namin alam kung kelan kami pwede nang sumabat para mag-order.

The place is well-designed with Japanese ornaments. There were bamboos and floral tiles, at malaking mural ng tigre sa isang dingding. Lucky tiger daw kasi ang meaning ng Kichitora. I'm not sure about the dark stone wall though. Parang hindi bagay sa theme. But that's just me (anong kinalaman ko sa interior design).

Ang Buod:
Kabalik-balik yung paitan ramen! If only we're rich and can afford to do it at least every other day. But alas, the coffers are limited.

We are sure to come back though to try the other items on the menu.
