[OK na Kape Trip] Commune

Posted by Obi Macapuno on 5/15/2014
Konting Intro:
Nasa listahan ito ng aming "third-wave coffee places to visit", care of the same cousin who also introduced us to Yardstick and The Curator.

Malapit lang ito sa therapy place ni Kat sa H.V dela Costa kaya minsang may P.T. session siya at nakakaluwag-luwag ang schedule, we dropped by to tambay (I'm rhyming, yow!).

Konting Kain:
The place is generally a cafe pero nagulat kami (we did not read up about them prior to the visit) na they actually have proper food in the menu.

  • Commune Club Sandwich
  • Capuccino

Konti nga lang ng anghang but it's mainly a preference thing. I'm sure with the amount we paid for it, they will oblige to have it cooked a bit spicy. The chicken is cooked good.

ala eh, gata eh!

Their clubhouse sandwich is only extraordinary in that they used malunggay wheat bread for it. The rest of the ingredients are a bit typical to a clubhouse sandwich na. May chicken chunks, bacon bits at salad greens. It's good enough for me kung hindi lang sana mahal. It's served with chips (na hindi ko alam kung saan gawa but it doesn't look like potato) and salad (with nuts and mango in vinaigrette dressing).

you can find me in the club

We were a bit disappointed with the capuccino kasi walang latte art. Nagtataka tuloy kami kung may mga particular coffee lang na nilalagyan nila ng latte art or special request ba ito (with special pay)? The coffee is quite ordinary. None of the full-bodied hardcore bitter tasting brew that we've had from the previous third-wave cafes we've been to. Not that I didn't like it, hindi naman ako yung coffee person eh so I appreciate the light-bodied ones (kahit instant coffee!). But for aficionados (and even those like Kat who prefer it just a bit strong lang), there's a good chance they will find it lacking.

no latte art... lego art na lang ^_^

Konting Bayad:
Mura yung mga kape compared to those offered by similar establishments. It's "tambay-priced", meaning pwedeng tumambay at magkape dito regularly and it won't hurt the wallet much.

Rice meals are priced okay, considering the taste, preparation, and ambiance. Range is around P180 to P220. Yung mga sandwiches ang overpriced for us at about P250 a piece.

kablam!

Konting Kumento:
The interior of the place is really welcoming. Looking at all the details, it's like telling us, "Sit. Relax. Have a cup."

homey

Service is just okay. We find the staff not that participative when it comes to describing the items on the menu for us. It helps if they can suggest what to eat or drink when asked and give basic information about it.

Konti Pa:
The missing latte art aside and if one is not a hardcore coffee adik, okay bumalik balik dito para lang mag-relax, have chat-time with people, or just have one's autistic mode on.

artistic shot, less the latte art :P
Rating:
5 out of 7
