[OK na Food Trip] Romulo Cafe

Posted by Obi Macapuno on 5/07/2014
Intro:
We spent V-day at a newly established boutique hotel in Alabang (ilang tumbling away from our place) and adjoining their really chic lobby is a branch of Romulo Cafe.

May free breakfast buffet dun yung nakuha naming reservation but we also had dinner there anyway (dahil puno ang Yushoken!).

just a couple of steps to the right is the entrance to Romulo Cafe

Main Event:

  • Pasta Pilipino (Spicy Tuyo Pasta)
  • Cheese and Vigan Longganisa Dumplings
  • Chocolate Cake
  • Molo Soup
  • Lechon Paksiw
  • Fried Danggit

On the Pasta Pilipino, malasa ang tuyo but not really spicy. Nasarapan kami sa idea ng tuyo on pasta. The taste goes well together. It also comes with tomatoes. So perfect sana yung laro ng mga sangkap. KASO... konti ang servings. Yun lang.

On the Cheese and Longganisa Dumplings, nalungkot kami pag lapag ng platito. As in I-can-stick-three-in-my-mouth-at-the-same-time kind of bite size. LOL.

uhm... yun na yon?

Redeeming factor ang chocolate cake. Tama lang ang tamis at pagka moist.

Sa breakfast buffet, standout ang Lechon Paksiw. Really? Lechon paksiw sa agahan? LOL. We were joking na baka madaming natirang pork from last night's meal. In any case, masyadong malambot ang pork nito at kulang sa tamis (Mang Tomas?) ang sauce.

Yung danggit from the breakfast buffet is good. In kanto terms, parang pinag-babaran ng medyas. Haha.

Other choices in the buffet are cereals, loaf bread, juice, and fruits. Nothing noteworthy among them.

Damage:
Mahal. Fine dining price.

A proper meal can get you from P400 to P600. We cringed at the menu.

May 10% service charge.

nice interiors

Others:
Hands up, the best ang interiors ng resto. It's generally modern in design but there are splashes of antiquity in their choices of decors and ornaments. Yung wallpaper ay may retro patterns reminiscent of my lola's daster. At ang color choices nila ay either earth tones or muted green (for the wallpaper). Magaan sa mata.

Madaming old photos ni Carlos P. Romulo, to whom the resto is named from. May mga kasamang trivia yung iba at old letters for the former President kaya nakaka-aliw basahin. It made me know more about his legacies than my gradeschool lessons. Peksman.

Service is good.

old letters to Carlos and family
Outro:
Fancy date place but prepare thy wallet.

nice rack ^_^
